emplify hospice for end of life care

Dr. Larry has been working at Emplify by Gundersen Hospice for the last 8 years as their Medical Director.  He works at the bedside in homes and with facilities in our area to help clarify what is most important to the person who is ill and to help develop a medical care plan that has the best chance of success.  He is board certified in Family Medicine and Palliative Medicine and is boarded in Hospice Medical Directing.   He has an interest in educating medical professionals and the community about an important time in life that we all face eventually.

Mandi Pericak is an accomplished medical social worker and advocate with nearly 20 years of experience supporting individuals in crisis. A Winona State University graduate with a degree in Social Work; she has built her career on compassionate leadership and service to those in need. As a Clinical Operations Director, she combines clinical expertise and operational leadership to improve healthcare delivery.

3 FUN FACTS GAME: SUBMIT YOUR FACTS & PHOTO

We want to get to know you better! On the 5th Wednesday of the month, we play the Three Fun Facts game where we try to guess which set of three facts go with which club member. If you haven’t already submitted three fun facts about yourself (and a picture too), please do so!  Make sure your facts are generic enough that they won’t identify you.  Email your facts & photo to Kate Dunnum at dunnum.kate@mayo.edu.  The next game is scheduled for July 29!

Please mark your calendars for our 16th annual golf outing August 3 at the Golf Club at Cedar Creek in Onalaska! Foursomes are welcome for golf, and anyone can attend the dinner and silent auction. Proceeds benefit the La Crosse Area Boys & Girls Club and IHP medical facilities in Tanzania. Contact Bob Newberry for registration or any questions!

The Downtown La Crosse Rotary Club will be collecting and recycling lithium-ion batteries and rechargeable devices that you’ve been holding onto in your junk drawers! Join us at Moon Tunes and bring your lithium-ion batteries and rechargeable devices including smartphones, tablets, electric toothbrushes, laptops, power tool batteries, rechargeable vacuum batteries, wireless headphones, and any other lithium-ion battery and help close the loop. The battery drop-off location is the Interact Popcorn tent.

Climate change is creating a global imperative to electrify everything from our vehicles to our grids. Lithium-ion batteries are at the heart of powering all these solutions and are made up of the same metals like cobalt, copper, nickel and lithium. At the end of a product’s life, every rechargeable lithium-ion battery is a source for making new batteries and sustainable energy products in the US. By responsibly recycling our products and batteries, we keep them out of landfills, reduce the need to mine critical minerals, and help increase the security of our domestic supply chains. Note: Only undamaged lithium batteries can be accepted. Come recycle with us!
